Child Safety

Trinity Primary School upholds an environment of openness, inclusiveness and respect where children and young people feel valued and have an awareness of their rights and the responsibilities of adults regarding child safety.

Trinity Primary School, Richmond places the highest priority on the care, wellbeing and protection of children and young people. This includes paying attention to the inherent dignity of children and young people, and their fundamental right to be respected, nurtured and safeguarded by all.

There has been a review of Trinity’s school policies and procedures to reflect recent Victorian legislative amendments with respect to managing the risk of child abuse. This policy update complements the introduction of new Victorian Child Safe Standards as stated in Ministerial Order No 870 which specifies the actions schools must take to meet each of the child safe standards.

At Trinity we have an emphasis on child safety during our recruitment process for staff and volunteers. There is an focus on child safety through our advertising and extensive screening processes. All staff and volunteers receive induction, through staff orientation programs and parent helper courses and are made aware of their child safety responsibilities, including maintaining a current working with children check.
